Good morning. My friend sent this out this morning, and I loved the verse. I mentioned in previous blogs that all through out the New Testament the writers mention the Old Testament, including Jesus referring to the Old Testament. Well, this is the one verse does just that.
Here is the verse: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'” This verse can also be found in Matthew 22:37, and Mark 12:30-31. Jesus was using this verse in the parable of the Good Samaritan. Jesus was being questioned by a lawyer, and that is what he answered with. the lawyer followed up with another question to Jesus ( I am not going to mention that verse right now). As I mentioned in other blogs that Jesus mentioned the Old Testament. Jesus
If you look at thee verse you may think that you get salvation through keeping the law, this requires us to be perfect in the law. Jesus is not saying that at all. The law requires perfect, progressive obedience to the Law, without failure. WE are NOT perfect and in fact sin easier then being perfect. The only one that is perfect is God.
This verse can also be found in Deuteronomy 6:5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. It is also found in Leviticus 19:18.
I love this verse, it is very simple, and also very powerful. We are commanded to love God with all our heart, soul strength, and mind. We are also told that we are to love our neighbor as ourselves.
How many of us can say that we do this? How do we love our neighbor? Do we love God as Jesus taught us to? These are just pondering questions. You do have to answer them here in the comment section, but think about it.
Have a blessed day.
