I was going to start the new series this morning, but a friend of mine from NJ posted something on Facebook yesterday and it got me thinking. He mentioned that we look up to athletes. This was his post ( I did not include his name, sorry) Society worships celebrities and puts them on a pedestal. We make them gods. We are so desensitized to it. Its sad. That’s all I got tonight
Much love to all!
It really got me thinking, do we as a society place athletes above God? Why do we place the athletes on a pedestal or even “worship” them? I my humble opinion, they are human just like us. Yes, they have a God give talent, but does that mean we have to worship them. Is it fair to the athlete that we place them on a pedestal or even “worship” them? They may not know that we do this to them. This does not only apply to athletes, but also entertainers. We look up to them, but not to the extent that we look up to athletes.
The bible tell us to keep our eyes on heavenly things. In Colossians 3:2 it tells us so, here is the verse: 2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. We should be looking up to God and not athletes.. I am not perfect, as sometimes I look up to the athlete. I am human, and I am NOT perfect. God is the one that provides for us, answers our prayers, not the athlete or entertainer.
So, the question to think about today is where do you place your values and sights?
